Are Meme Coins Halal or Haram ?

Any meme coin which brings value or has a use case is Halal, if a meme coin is just being traded in hopes it will go up or down (speculative) without any real use case may be considered as Haram.

Meme coins generally could be considered as Gharar ‘prohibition of excessive uncertainty ‘. Also, trading something with no intrinsic value could be considered as gambling (maysir) which is haram.

To decide if a certain meme coin / token is halal or haram , you may wanna explore the project to see if they have any utility at the moment or planned for future, if not you may label is as haram.

Example of a Halal Meme Coin ?

I don’t own any FLOKI nor I am promoting this particular project. Floki is a meme coin however they have now made a whole ecosystem where they offer utility for Floki holders. thus making it fall in halal category. While Floki started as a meme coin with no use case back in 2021 but has evolved into a project with utility.

Example of a Haram Meme Coin ?

The majority of list of meme coins and/or majority of coins launched on pump.fun etc fall under the Haram category , as they are being traded on speculation and has NO real use case.
